Growing Your Community with the Referral Program
Every thriving sports club grows through word of mouth. ServeLeague's Referral Program turns that natural momentum into a structured system, giving every club member a unique referral link they can share with friends, rival clubs, or anyone who'd benefit from organized league management. When someone creates a new club through your link, your club gets credit, and rewards follow.
This tutorial walks you through everything: finding your referral link, sharing it effectively, tracking your results, and (if you're a club admin) monitoring the full referral pipeline from your dashboard.
Step 1: Find Your Referral Link
Every authenticated ServeLeague user gets a personal referral link tied to their primary club. To find yours:
- Log in to ServeLeague and open the main navigation menu.
- Click Referrals in the sidebar. This takes you to your personal referral dashboard.
- Your unique referral link appears in a highlighted box at the top of the page, along with your 8-character referral code.

Your link follows the format https://serveleague.com/r/ABCD1234, where the last 8 characters are your unique code. The code uses uppercase letters and digits (excluding similar-looking characters like I, O, 0, and 1) so it's clear to read aloud or type manually.
[!TIP] Your referral link is automatically associated with your primary club. If you're an admin of multiple clubs, the link credits the club where you hold admin privileges. If you're a member without admin rights, it links to the club you joined most recently.
Step 2: Share Your Link
Once you have your link, sharing it is straightforward. ServeLeague gives you two ways to spread the word:
Copy to clipboard: Click the Copy button next to your referral link. Paste it into emails, group chats, social media posts, or wherever you communicate with potential club organizers.
Native share: Click the Share button to use your device's built-in sharing options (WhatsApp, Messages, email, X/Twitter, and more). This is especially convenient on mobile.

Where to share for maximum impact
- Club group chats: If your members know organizers at other venues, encourage them to share too.
- Social media: Post after a great session with a line like "We run our league on ServeLeague, set yours up here" and your link.
- Tournament events: When you meet players from other clubs, mention that ServeLeague handles ratings, scheduling, and standings automatically.
- Local sports forums: Community boards, Facebook groups, and Reddit threads for your sport are all good places to share.
[!TIP] Every member of your club can generate their own referral link. Encourage your players to share. The more people spreading the word, the faster your community grows.
Step 3: What Happens When Someone Uses Your Link
When a prospective club organizer clicks your referral link, they're redirected to the ServeLeague registration page with your referral code pre-filled. Here's the flow:
- The recipient lands on the Register page with your code automatically attached.
- They create their ServeLeague account and proceed to set up a new club.
- In the Create Club wizard, the Referral Code field is pre-populated with your code. They can also enter a code manually if they received it verbally.
- Once they complete club creation and checkout, the referral is recorded and linked to your club.

The system validates the referral code in real time. If the code is valid and unused, the referred person sees the name of the person who referred them, confirming the connection.
[!IMPORTANT] A referral code can only be used once for a single club creation. After a new club is created with your code, that specific referral entry is marked as converted. Your referral link remains active for future referrals. Each new share generates a fresh referral record.
Step 4: Track Your Referrals
Head back to your Referrals dashboard to monitor your impact. The page shows four key metrics at a glance:
| Metric | What it means |
|---|---|
| Total Referrals | Number of clubs created using your referral codes |
| Converted | Referrals where the new club is fully active |
| Pending | Referrals where the club was created but hasn't completed onboarding |
| Expired | Referral codes that were used but the associated club is no longer active |

Below the stats, you'll find a chronological list of every referral. Each entry shows:
- The name of the referred club (or "Unknown Club" if they haven't completed setup)
- The date the referral was created
- The conversion date (if applicable)
- A status badge: green for converted, amber for pending, grey for expired
This list lets you see exactly which clubs came through your efforts and where each one stands in the onboarding process.
Step 5: Rewards and Benefits
Successful referrals earn rewards for your club. When a referral converts (meaning the new club completes creation and activates their subscription) a reward is automatically generated and tied to the referral.
Rewards vary and may include subscription credits, extended trial periods, or other benefits. Check your referral dashboard and the admin referrals page (see below) for details on any rewards you've earned.
[!TIP] Rewards are tracked per referral, so the more clubs you bring on board, the more your club benefits. Think of it as a growth engine: every successful referral makes your own ServeLeague experience better.
Step 6: The Admin Referral Dashboard
If you're a club admin, you have access to a dedicated referral management view with deeper analytics. Go to your club's admin panel and click Referrals in the sidebar.

The admin dashboard provides:
Aggregate statistics
Four stat cards show your club's total referral activity: Total Referrals, Converted, Pending, and Conversion Rate (as a percentage). These numbers cover all referrals from every member of your club, not just your own.
Referral codes table
A detailed table listing every referral code generated by your club's members. Each row shows:
- The referral code itself
- The referrer's name: which member shared it
- The referred club name (if converted)
- Status and creation date
This is invaluable for understanding which members are your best ambassadors and recognizing their contributions.
Rewards issued
Below the referral table, you'll see a list of all rewards earned by the club through referrals, including the reward type, value, and whether it's been claimed.

[!TIP] Use the admin dashboard during club events or meetings to celebrate top referrers. A little recognition goes a long way in motivating members to share.
