Notifications & App Install

Staying informed about your results, upcoming sessions, and club announcements makes a real difference. You want to know your rating the moment scores are posted, get reminders before your next league night, and keep up with important news from your club. ServeLeague keeps you connected through three notification channels and a mobile app experience that puts everything at your fingertips.

Whether you prefer push notifications on your phone, email summaries in your inbox, or checking in-app updates at your own pace, you can customize how and when ServeLeague reaches you. You can also install it as an app on your home screen for a full-screen experience without the browser address bar.

Setting Up Notifications

To receive notifications, you need a ServeLeague account with a claimed player profile. Once set up, you can receive alerts through three channels:

  • Push: instant notifications on your phone (requires PWA install)
  • Email: session summaries and rating changes to your inbox
  • In-app: the bell icon in the header shows new updates

What You Can Be Notified About

Configure which categories use which channels in Settings → Notifications (accessible from the user menu in the top-right corner).

To set up your notification preferences, follow these steps:

  1. Open ServeLeague and tap your avatar in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Settings from the menu.
  3. Tap Notifications.
  4. For each category, choose which channels you want: push, email, in-app, or any combination.
  5. Your preferences save automatically.

[!TIP] Push notifications are the fastest way to see results. You'll know your rating change within seconds of finalization.

Installing as an App (PWA)

ServeLeague is a Progressive Web App. Installing it gives you:

  • Full-screen experience: no browser address bar
  • Push notifications: even when the browser is closed
  • Home screen icon: launch like any other app
  • Dark mode: follows your device preference

On Android (Chrome)

  1. Visit serveleague.com in Chrome.
  2. Tap the "Install" banner, or the three-dot menu → "Install app".
  3. Done. The icon appears on your home screen.

After installation, ServeLeague opens in full screen without the browser address bar, and the icon appears on your home screen alongside your other apps.

On iPhone (Safari)

  1. Visit serveleague.com in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (square with upward arrow).
  3. Tap "Add to Home Screen" → "Add".

[!WARNING] On iPhone, you must use Safari. Other browsers don't support PWA installation on iOS.

If the install prompt does not appear on Android, try clearing your browser cache and visiting serveleague.com again. Make sure you are using Chrome. On iPhone, the Add to Home Screen option is always available in Safari's share menu.

Watching Other Players

Want to follow a rival or teammate? You can "watch" any player to get notified about their results.

  1. Go to any player's profile page.
  2. Tap the Watch button.
  3. Choose notification level:
    • Final results: always on when watching
    • Preliminary results (optional): notified as matches are submitted live

Unwatch at any time by tapping the button again. You can watch as many players as you like across any club.

[!NOTE] Watching works best with push notifications enabled. Without push, updates appear in your in-app notification feed only.

Your Account Settings

Access settings from the user menu (top-right) → Settings:

  • Profile: change your display name
  • Email: update your email address
  • Password: change your password
  • Notifications: turn categories on or off per channel

[!TIP] Getting too many emails? Switch to push-only for match results and keep email for weekly summaries.
